Product Development Specialist (Eastern US)
Product Development Specialist is responsible for conducting and contracting field and greenhouse trials for new biopesticides, and new formulations and uses of existing biopesticides, for specialty crop, ornamental and turf markets. This person will be located in a key market area in the eastern US or Great Lakes region and will work out of his/her home. The major objective of the Product Development Specialist is to collect field trial and greenhouse data from self conducted trials, private contractors and University researchers, and collect, organize, analyze and disseminate data in a timely manner.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Design and implement field development programs (within budget), including writing protocols
- Collect, summarize, analyze, disseminate and organize results
- Determine test substance requirements
- Develop product label information (rates, use directions)
- Provide sales and regulatory support for registered and developmental products
- Organize field tours as requested
- Maintain data in an organized, systematic manner on the company server, available for others in the company to easily access. Make powerpoint presentations for use by sales and marketing
- Travel to visit all field sites and attend relevant PCA and University meetings; develop a network of private and university collaborators.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in field research of agricultural products.
- A Ph.D., M.S., or B.S. degree in Entomology, Plant Pathology, Weed Science or other relevant agricultural science, with a minimum of 5 years industry experience in product development and agricultural research, specifically for the vegetable, fruit, nut, vine and ornamental markets.
Senior Entomologist
Develop and conduct laboratory and greenhouse bioassays of biopesticides (microbials and plant extracts) against economically important insects, nematodes and weeds. Identify external testing cooperators and coordinate testing with external labs and universities. MS or PhD in entomology and 2-5 years of experience in developing and conducting insect bioassays with biopesticides and agrichemicals. Experience in industry a plus.
Marketing Assistant - Marrone Organic Innovations

MOI is looking for an energetic individual to support its marketing and sales efforts, reporting directly to the V.P. of Marketing.
Responsibilities
- Provide creative and administrative support to the Marketing Dept, including design, research, clerical and project based work.
- Hands on development of marketing communications materials, labels, newsletters, etc
- Liaison between company and agencies, printers, media, etc.

Marrone Organic Innovations (MOI) is seeking a Regional Sales Manager for the Western United States. MOI is a fast-growing company located in Davis, CA. that discovers, develops and markets effective and environmentally responsible natural products that fill unmet needs for weed, pest and plant disease management for the agricultural industry. MOI aims to be the leader in effective natural product pest and weed management tools. The company has two commercial products and several more in development.
Responsibilities
- Meet or exceed revenue goals set by the company.
- Develop a tactical sales plan for the Western US.
- Monitor sales versus forecast on a monthly basis.
- Manage customer (channel and end user) relationships to maximize sales and market share.
- Train Distributor/Dealer/PCA’s on the proper use of MOI products.
- Develop a strong working relationship with key MOI colleagues in sales, marketing, product development, R&D, etc.
- Coordinate and set up grower demos when necessary.
- Manage sales expense budget.
- Participate/speak/display at key industry meetings.
Knowledge Skills & Experience
- BS in an agricultural-related field.
- Established relationships with the western agrichemical channel.
- At least 3-5 years of sales experience with pesticide products, including biopesticides.

Research Scientist - Chemistry
We are currently looking for a Research Scientist to join our natural products chemistry group. He/she will work as part of our team to extract and purify bioactive secondary metabolites and other compounds from microbial fermentation broths and plants.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Participate in the development of processes for the isolation, separation and purification of targeted compounds from various microbial and plant sources.
- Extract, perform pre-fractionation of extracts and prepare samples for various bioassays.
- Conduct bioassay-guided fractionation of crude extracts to isolate and identify active fractions.
- Prepare laboratory notebooks, technical reports, summaries, protocols, and quantitative analyses.
- Maintain personal and shared work areas and equipments in good condition.
- Carry out assigned shared laboratory housekeeping tasks.
Qualifications
Education/Certification
- BS or MS degree in chemistry
Experience
- 1+ years experience with isolation of compounds from natural sources is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Essential experience with relevant separation methods including centrifugation, liquid-liquid and solid-liquid extractions, fractionation, chromatography (Column chromatography, preparative HPLC).

Manufacturing Operations Manager
The candidate who accepts this position will perform the following:
- Supervise contract manufacturing operations
- Scale up microbial and plant-extracted biopesticide fermentation processes, formulations and downstream processes from lab to pilot to contract manufacturer.
- Optimization/Improvements to existing/new manufacturing processes
- Technical Transfer from R&D and acquired technologies to onsite manufacturing
- Development and sourcing of raw materials for product formulations, packaging, containers, etc.
- Research and develop equipment for new processes, process improvements and QC testing
- Integrate quality in manufacturing process and products to drive continuous improvement
- Development of process qualifications based on internal procedures and quality requirements
- Some communication with customers and vendors as needed setting up specifications, addressing non-conformities, etc.
- Ability to design studies, such as technology change evaluations for existing processes
- Job also includes some plant-extract based products that require assessing toll manufacturing partners and transferring processes from the company's lab and coordinating with the contract manufacturer.
